I'm joining Jen and the crew yet again for this week's edition of 7 Quick Takes.
1. While trying to teach Mark how to tell a joke:
Momma: "Mark, say 'knock knock."
Mark: "Knock knock"
Momma: "ok, now the other person will say 'who's there'"
Mark: "where are they?"
Momma: "no, you say 'Banana' after they say 'who's there?'"
Mark: "Banana? I'm hungry Momma."
Momma: "no, you say 'banana' as part of the joke."
Mark: "Joker (from Batman) wants a banana, Momma."
Momma: "ok, maybe we'll try learning a joke after feeding you and The Joker."
2. Speaking of superheroes... While at mass this past Sunday, Mark was singing along during one of the songs (or so we thought.) Jacob (who was holding Mark at the time) started laughing and whispered that he'd tell me after mass. After we got in the car, Jacob informed me that since Mark didn't actually know the words to the song, he was just listing off superheroes in rhythm.
3. And while we are on the subject of superheroes, we've been trying to get Mark to eat more, so we've told him that if he wants muscles like Batman, he needs to eat whatever is on his plate. Well, while eating lunch the other day, he outsmarted me and said "toder (toddler) Batman no have muscles, only Daddy Batman." We'll dude... You're probably right. One point for Mark.
4. In case I haven't mentioned it before, Mark's very favorite place to share anything remotely inappropriate is the checkout line of any store (preferably Target.) On this particular day, we were purchasing some diaper cream to help get rid of some of Mark's diaper rash. Mark sees the cashier scan it, and says "Momma's bum not sore. She put bum cream on it." (Let me remind you that it is Mark's not Momma's bum with the diaper rash.) He never fails to embarrass me.
5. Onto the youngest in our crew, Joey (aka Goby). This kid is pulling up on everything. My favorite thing so far has been him trying to pull up on Abeldog. There Abeldog was, minding his own business looking out the window, guarding us from a squirrel when all of a sudden "Goby The Grabber" pulls on his back and stands right up and starts laughing. Abel looked over his shoulder, sighed and laid down all while giving me the "Seriously, Mom?!" look. Best.dog.ever.6. Believe it or not, Joey is 9 months old this week! He had his 9-month check up and everything went well. His height is: 28.75" (65th percentile), weight: 20lbs 9.5oz (65th percentile) and head circumference: 17.32" (23rd percentile). His development is good and the doc said to expect that Joey will be walking before his first birthday. (I'd be shocked if it took that long.)
7. Joey's favorite word is "da-da". Here's how a typical conversation goes:
Momma: "Joey, say 'Ma-Ma'."
Joey: "Da-Da".
Momma: "Joey, say 'Ma-Ma'."
Joey: "Da-Da".
Momma: "Joey, say 'Ma-Ma'."
Joey: ((blows giant raspberry)).
8: (I know it's only supposed to be 7 quick takes, so just consider this a bonus take). I usually submit 2 pictures to my 52-week "This Is Our Life" photography linkup, but this week I only submitted one because I thought it was so perfect and I didn't want to take away from it. The theme this week was "This makes me want to freeze time." Here is the image I submitted.
As Tigger says, TTFN!
